The CNN Caper document, Part II: Abbie Boudreau
NJO: "Benjamin Wetmore: A mentor of mine; a genius",
said James O'Keefe in an interview in September 2009. So let's take a look at some of the wisdom of this certifiably
mentorial influence on James' life.
Today, the second part of the CNN Caper planning document, which deals specifically with Abbie Boudreau, i.e. how to go about damaging her credibility and by extension CNN's.

Bad reactions need to be met with adaptation and adjustment to either ease off or apply more social pressure to the situation in order to keep her in the skit.
b. Christian Hartsock
Considering the complex dynamic with Hartsock, that he will see this CNN connection as his 'big break' and that he's notorious for having loose lips, he certainly can't be trusted to keep this in confidence, and will speak to either people his age or perhaps even to CNN directly to curry favor. He should be given the vaguest details, and if he's upset about the potential complication to his future, reminded that future operations will be newsworthy as well.
c. if CNN gets advance warning
If CNN gets advance warning and finds this out, you should simply cancel the operation, period. Their forewarning can be
d. if she refuses to get on the boat
Just leave. You're in a position of strength. Make her come to you. To leave the boat kills the operation.
e. if they refuse the interview
You're negotiating from a position of strength, so simply refuse to do the interview until they agree to your terms: Boudreau and during a time when you're out on the boat and relaxed.
f. Running the operation without props and with a dirty boat
In the rush to get this done, the temptation will be to skimp on the details, and that just puts two things at risk: 1) Boudreau's confusion as to whether this is legitimate, ruining her reaction which is key to the operation, and 2) making the video that much less interesting lacking props and proper ambiance.
g. too many chefs in the kitchen
I already spent 30 minutes defending the idea and trying to battle crazy permutations from Burns. The more people you tell about an operation, the more it 1) opens it up to unknown future problems, 2) good ideas have to defend against bad ones, 3) people running their mouths to Hartsock, CNN and other people will cause additional unknown complications.
h. After the fact with CNNCNN could issue a statement, the Anderson Cooper show could make some comment about what a lech you are, or could do something either on the presumption that you 1) actually are a creep or 2) they realize it was a gag afterwards or 3) they admit it was a gag, but say you're a creep and an anti-feminist for doing it regardless. It's probably most likely they'll ignore the story and hope it goes away, but if it does get covered, there are likely three main scenarios, advice pending each main eventuality:
1) if they pursue this as you are a creep, you should play it up with them initially only to reveal that the tape was made beforehand confirming this was a gag. Focus on the fact that this was a gag the entire time and they aren't 'in' on the joke.

2) if they admit it was a gag, you should release the footage and focus on the fact they got punked, and make sure to emphasize Abbie's name and overall status to help burden her career with this video, incident and her bad judgment in pursuing you so aggressively. Keep the focus on Abbie if they try to make this just a stunt and move on.
3) if they go on the attack, you should point out the the hypocrisy in CNN using the inherent sexuality of these women to sell viewers and for ratings, passing up more esteemed and respectable journalists who aren't "bubble-headed bleach blondes" and keep the focus on CNN. If they attack, keep the focus on CNN and the higher-ups at CNN, such as Jonathan Klein, who has changed the channel from serious news to unserious news by pretty-blonde anchors in lieu of real journalists. If they attack, fight back even harder.

i. Burns: IIED concerns
IIED has a high threshold, and courts typically don't like it anyway. The elements are:
1. Defendant acted intentionally or recklessly; and
2. Defendant's conduct was extreme and outrageous; and
3. Defendant's act is the cause of the distress; and
4. Plaintiff suffers severe emotional distress as a result of defendant's conduct.
I think this is not 2) extreme and outrageous and 3) she would have a hard time proving "distress" and 4) would also be tough, given her experience as a hardened reporter.

Sexual harrassment is primarily a workplace concern and not out of the workplace. Though we're perhaps not 100% in the clear on this, the risk of this is very low.

Abby, who works for Anderson Cooper at CNN, a network notorious for journalistic malpractice, wants to lull me into thinking she's my friends so she can use me and hurt my career.
Instead, I've decided to have a little fun. Instead of giving her a serious interview, I'm going to punk CNN. Abbie has been trying to seduce me to use me, in order to spin a lie about me. So, I'm going to seduce her, on camera, to use her for a video. This bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who comes on at five will get a taste of her own medicine, she'll get seduced on camera and you'll get to see the awkwardness and the aftermath.

12. The overall narrative
a. The theatrical narrative - "on stage"
On stage you are portraying yourself as a tortured artist who is having difficulty finding female companionship due to your art. You are doing this interview because you have to, but you want to creatively and physically connect with this woman in order to fulfill your male desires.
b. The video narrative - "off stage" - the final video product
Off stage the narrative is that you don't take CNN seriously and consider their reporting to be a joke. You can use a hardline feminist critique against women like Boudreau in order to blunt charges of sexism and also to confuse liberals who will, no doubt, try to use this and any action you take against you. By pointing out the good journalists who aren't photogenic, you play into their higher beliefs against objective beauty in order to cut Boudreau down to size. Fundamentally this is all just a way to hurt CNN, but the final product should emphasize how unserious Anderson Cooper and CNN's "journalism" is, and how, noting that ridiculousness and the ridiculousness of their anchors, you decided to play a joke on them instead of giving them a legitimate interview.
As they seduce subjects, so shall they be seduced. As they tell packaged stories ridiculing their subjects, so shall they be ridiculed.
13. The "joke"
The joke is that the tables have turned on CNN. Using hot blondes to seduce interviewees to get screwed on television, you are faux seducing her in order to screw her on television.
14. Acting and adaptation
As the operation is going on, James will have to adapt and adjust to her mood and her reaction. If she is pulling away, withdraw and pull her back in. If she's unsure, comfort her and reassure her. Vacillate between somewhat serious interview and the come-hither persona as needed in order to confuse her judgment and also keep her on the boat.
She wants to do the interview, she spent thousands of dollars to do this interview, she is invested. Our job is to make sure she doesn't run away or break too soon. You want to make sure you have plenty of video and pre-reveal moments before the reveal, and not to proverbially "shoot your load" before the catalytic moment, the big reveal for her. So keep her hooked and use hot-cold and push-pull kind of psychological tactics in order to keep her in the skit.

Off stage the narrative is that you don't take CNN seriously and consider their reporting to be a joke. You can use a hardline feminist critique against women like Boudreau in order to blunt charges of sexism and also to confuse liberals who will, no doubt, try to use this and any action you take against you. By pointing out the good journalists who aren't photogenic, you play into their higher beliefs against objective beauty in order to cut Boudreau down to size. Fundamentally this is all just a way to hurt CNN, but the final product should emphasize how unserious Anderson Cooper and CNN's "journalism" is, and how, noting that ridiculousness and the ridiculousness of their anchors, you decided to play a joke on them instead of giving them a legitimate interview.
As they seduce subjects, so shall they be seduced. As they tell packaged stories ridiculing their subjects, so shall they be ridiculed.
13. The "joke"
The joke is that the tables have turned on CNN. Using hot blondes to seduce interviewees to get screwed on television, you are faux seducing her in order to screw her on television.
14. Acting and adaptation
As the operation is going on, James will have to adapt and adjust to her mood and her reaction. If she is pulling away, withdraw and pull her back in. If she's unsure, comfort her and reassure her. Vacillate between somewhat serious interview and the come-hither persona as needed in order to confuse her judgment and also keep her on the boat.
She wants to do the interview, she spent thousands of dollars to do this interview, she is invested. Our job is to make sure she doesn't run away or break too soon. You want to make sure you have plenty of video and pre-reveal moments before the reveal, and not to proverbially "shoot your load" before the catalytic moment, the big reveal for her. So keep her hooked and use hot-cold and push-pull kind of psychological tactics in order to keep her in the skit.

Specifically, as it regards Christian Hartsock and the video shoot, after our discussion together, I think it would involve too much risk and yield too few rewards to engage CNN while doing a video shoot. The danger to say something out of context, off the cuff, or potentially politically incorrect is too large. The mistake that Sorba is making by having CNN closeby for so long is the same logic here: this is a known unfriendly media organization whose primary story will be negative. Their best story would be one that ruined a center-right career.
The challenge is to create an operation that could spoof CNN, hurt their credibility and show the 'big lie' that they operate under, showing the truth that is unknown to the general public.
Potential 'big lies' as it regards CNN:
1. Their general bias against conservatives
2. Their own internal racism against whites
3. Their potential internal racism against minorities
4. Shoddy journalism, and low journalistic standards
Perhaps the greatest combination of these potential big lies would be to spoof CNN and get them to report on a topic that is entirely false. Fake journalism scandals are often news, with Jayson Blair and Stephen Glass being the most prominent examples.

We should entice them with some video that they want to believe. The media has been in a frenzy for the past few years on a relatively small number of topics and subjects.

3. Sarah Palin
4. GOP leadership scandals
Certain past topics, such as the war or terrorism, seem to be relatively off the radar as it regards to the news interest of the mainstream media. Things that are on politics, the GOP, scandal, race issues, are all pertinent and relevant.
The general political issues of relevance:
1. Race
2. Immigration
3. Budgets
If we were to offer CNN evidence of racism, playing on these currently relevant issues, and produced enough supporting evidence to prove the claim we make, have them write a story and then prepare our allies to pounce, it could be a good way to undercut their credibility.
Things we could use to entice them:
1. False video evidence
2. False textual evidence and documents
3. False interviews
The false video evidence, for one, could be focused on the incident with Congressman John Lewis where he said he was called a "nigger" by tea party protesters, even though the video evidence disproved his claim.
Spoofing video evidence proving Lewis' claim, along with a good story that the tea party had suppressed such evidence, might be enough for CNN to report on the story.
The video evidence just needs to be simple, just Lewis walking by with a faint "nigger" said in the background, yelled by someone there. The video evidence would need to be sufficient to get by potential fact-checkers at CNN who might analyze the video and audio.
Potential video:
1. Lewis walking by and someone saying "nigger"
2. Proof that the tea party had edited out the word 'nigger' from released video
3. Video footage of the tea party taking the video evidence from other people the day of the event.

1. Frantic emails from within the tea party that shows the word was said, and how to cover up the video evidence.
2. Voicemails from tea party leaders couching people to say scripted lines and avoid admitting that there was racism at the event.
The danger is, of course, that the lie becomes the official truth, and so it would be necessary to immediately deconstruct this story on friendly networks and media outlets. The goal isn't to draw out the scandal after all, rather just to embarrass CNN by having them report a false story. So immediately reporting on the falseness of the story would be key.
Precautions against the story becoming false truth:
1. Releasing proof of its fraud the same day
2. The fact no one watches CNN
3. The impact of one day of news versus the collective effort of those battling the media establishment
4. The competition between liberal networks to show and report on CNN's failures
5. The extensiveness of our evidence showing that it was wholesale fraud
6. Exclusive reporting and interviewing with the tea party to explain why you did this, that you support the tea party types, and that you wanted to show what CNN 'had in their heart: hatred for normal Americans.'
7. The waning influence of the 'racist' label and charge.
8. Journalism outlets that will investigate and report on CNN's fraud.
I don't know the relevant and friendly media outlets, so that part of the discussion is not included here. My guess would be that it includes Fox and the bloggers.

James: "look, there is racism out there, in different organizations and movements, no one denies that, I'm just saying it's aggravating that I have to deal with it when I'm the one trying to get Breitbart and others to report on the real racism on the right, and the evidence that's out there."

CNN: "well you are, what evidence?"
James: "well, like that John Lewis thing, the tea party was able to cover that up pretty fast and pretty effectively."

Wash U students celebrated the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall by building a gulag on the quad to remeber those who died under socialism. James O'Keefe was there. I interviewed him about citizen journalism.
